Please look out for this stolen van/interior/parts

One of our customers has asked us to spread the word about his stolen vehicle.  This van has been reported stolen and a reward offered for its safe return.  If you are offered this van, its interior or any parts then please contact the customer, details are on the link.

The interior is custom built and is specific to this vehicle – This Interior is a one off and built for this customer – if you are offered this interior or one like it you can verify if its a genuine sale by contacting us.

I believe it was stolen from the the London Area, but could be anywhere in the UK or abroad by now.

DVLA rules are changing

From last week the DVLA will classify campervans converted from panel vans as “window vans” and not campers.  This is due to the police not being able to identify the difference between the two vehicles its seems due to the difference of speed limits….

Many insurance companies will either insure you as a van or a camper…however done correctly and issued with the correct certification, certain insurance companies will still insure your “camper” even without the changes to your V5, our new VW T5 showvan has undergone this change recently and is now fully insured as a campervan but with the classification of a window van and the cheaper Taxation class….win win!

Is your rock and roll bed safe to fit seatbelts to?

Something that we get asked about alot is T4 and T5 rock and roll beds and why are crash tested beds so expensive. The answer….testing. Many go through rigourous testing to ensure that in the event of an accident the seat gives you the greatest chance of survival and safety.

Does it mean then that all beds that have seatbelts have been tested? The short answer is No, unfortunately not all go through the same testing, some no testing at all, others can are fully crash tested. In some cases your Insurance company may not insure you if the bed has not been through testing. An MOT does not mean that the bed is safe, only that the seatbelts have been tested.

So, the answer is to check with your supplier, do not assume that if seatbelts are on the picture that it has been tested. Ask questions, what tests have been carried out, do you have paperwork?.

The current MOT only checks that the belts are working, it does not check how the bed has been fitted or if it suitable to transport people.

Therefore even if the van has an MOT and the bed was fitted, it does not mean that your bed is designed for passengers. So always ask the question, before you part with your hard earned money. Also check with your insurance company as some will only cover you for crash tested rock and roll beds, or which have been installed by a professional installer.

The moral of this story is to ask questions of your supplier, there are some great companies out there willing to share their experience with you, to explain how their beds are put together and tested. Make sure you understand what you are buying and how its been tested and ensure any modification including a rock and roll bed has been checked with your insurance company.

Be safe…..

56 Samba is going home

The best accolade to any project is a positive response from the public.  Our Samba was not exception.  We had an amazing response at Stanford Hall, with people queuing up on Alan Schofield’s stand to get a look inside.

Within a week of the Samba coming up for sale, we’d had an enquiry from where it came, Germany.  The guy came over as quick as he could and the van is on its way home.   Couldnt have asked for a nicer chap to buy the Samba.

Excellent show at stanford

The weather stayed sunny, bit of a strong wind!! But a fantastic couple of days. Nice to meet up with past and present customers.

An excellent response to the new VW t5 and a great response to the samba on it’s first outing

Thanks to the organisers for a wonderfully organised event, yet again

Unveiled: 23 Window Samba at Stanford Hall VW show

Stanford Hall will be a big show for us this year, with the unveiling of our new VW T5 show van and also the long awaited 1956 23 window Samba, a joint venture with Smiths of Cornwall.

Not only will the Samba be on show, with many of this countries best going out of this country and going to the USA. Even in this economy, VW Splitscreens, in particular the rare classics have been a source of investment for many collectors with many of the best specimens being exchanged for money in excess of $120,000.00

This 23 window samba is no exception, down to minute details this vehicle has been full restored to its original status, returned to its original color, some NOS panels and doors to a replica Oak interior, this example hopes to be one of the best you will see in the UK today.
